Afraid of losing your home? Free meetings to help struggling owners

Free meetings on Saturday and Monday will outline options for struggling South Florida owners afraid of losing their homes.

“It’s still an ongoing issue: There are neighborhoods and neighborhoods filled with foreclosed homes,” said Brad Dwin, spokesman for the nonprofit HOPE NOW. The group was created  by lenders, investors, counselors and others to help people having trouble making their payments.

Dwin expects about 1,000 to fill a Monday meeting at the Westin Diplomat Resort, 3555 S. Ocean Dr., in Hollywood. From 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. owners will be able to meet with their mortgage holder and a federally approved counseling agency to try to find a way for them to stay in their homes.
