Florida’s latest foreclosure fracas involving the ousting of two state investigators drew clear sides Friday after an attorney general’s statement that performance, not politics, caused the forced resignations.
Former assistant attorneys general Theresa Edwards and June Clarkson, who were the office’s lead foreclosure fraud investigators, were told May 20 to resign immediately or be fired.
After the move drew national attention and accusations that it was done for political reasons, Deputy Attorney General Carlos Muniz released a statement Thursday criticizing the lawyers’ performance as “unacceptable.”
